About
The landscaper Surrey clients name by name.
Hammond Landscapes is an owner-led design-and-build garden company run by Sam Covele-rose, working out of Godalming across Guildford, Surrey and the surrounding counties — one landscaper you can point to, from first sketch to the last plant.
Most landscaping firms sell you a brand. Hammond Landscapes sells you Sam. Read the reviews on our Google profile and the same name comes up again and again — “Sam and his team,” “Sam just gets it,” “you should feel totally safe in his hands.” That isn't marketing copy; it's what clients across Guildford and Surrey wrote themselves.
It matters because a garden is built over weeks, not hours. When the person who quoted the job is the same one on site setting the levels, choosing the stone and placing the plants, nothing gets lost in a chain of subcontractors. From a base at Brook House on Mint Street in Godalming, Sam runs the whole thing — and is the person you actually deal with, from the first walk round the plot to the day the last plant goes in.
We design and build the whole scheme in-house: groundwork and levels, paving and walling, garden structures and lighting, kitchen gardens, turf and planting. Where a job rightly needs a certified specialist — tree surgery, or an electrical connection for lighting and irrigation — we bring in accredited subcontractors we know and trust and coordinate them within the project, so you still deal with one point of contact.
The reviews tell the same story from the client's side. Anita Hughes called the team “knights in shining armour” after they rebuilt a storm-collapsed pergola and rescued her wisteria, left in “perfect condition.” Heather Johnson's front garden ran from driveway setts with integral lighting to a corten-steel feature, planting and irrigation — all handled as one job. Rebecca Wallis got “a lovely new space”; Lisa Collins has simply kept coming back.
And we care about the part you can't see. Paving and steps are only as good as the base underneath, so we build on a properly prepared, consolidated sub-base and correct falls rather than a thin bed of sand — and we'll show you the build-up in the quote. It's the difference between a patio that stays put and one that lifts a few winters on.

How we work & why it's safe
What owner-led actually means for you.
You deal with Sam
The person who quotes your garden is the person who builds it. Sam is on site setting the levels, choosing the stone and placing the plants — which is exactly why clients name him, not a company, in nearly every review.
One team, the whole garden
Groundwork, paving and walling, structures, lighting, planting and turf are carried in-house by one crew. When one team is answerable for the whole scheme, nothing gets lost in a chain of subcontractors.
Built to last, not to sand
The difference between paving that lasts and paving that lifts is all in the base you can’t see. We build on a properly prepared, consolidated sub-base and correct falls, and we’ll show you the build-up in the quote.
Certified trades, coordinated
For work that rightly needs a specialist — tree surgery, or an electrical connection for lighting or irrigation — we bring in accredited subcontractors we trust and manage them within the project, so you have one point of contact.
Where we work
Godalming based, right across Guildford & Surrey.
From a base at Brook House on Mint Street in Godalming, Hammond Landscapes covers Godalming, Guildford and the villages between — Farncombe, Milford, Shalford, Bramley, Cranleigh and Haslemere — and out into the surrounding counties, including Hampshire. Being genuinely local means we know the greensand and clay soils, the sloping plots and the styles of these gardens. For larger design-and-build projects we'll happily travel further across the South East.
